SMS Terms & Consent
How Brunchie's text messaging works — account verification codes and opt-in event updates for the US and Canada. Message frequency varies, message and data charges may apply, reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
This page is also available in English: English.
Brunchie sends text messages (SMS), and where supported voice calls, to help you sign in and stay on top of your events. This page explains what we send, how you opt in, and how to stop. It applies to recipients in the United States and Canada.
These messages are sent by the Brunchie team, a Canadian-based company, from a verified toll-free sender. Messages are delivered through our messaging provider, Twilio.
What we send
We send two kinds of messages, and only to people who have added and verified their own phone number on their Brunchie account:
- Account verification codes (2FA / OTP) — one-time codes to sign in to your account or to confirm a phone number you've added.
- Event updates you've opted into — RSVP confirmations, changes to an event's time or location, reminders, and real-time updates like "your table's ready" for events you're part of.
These are account- and event-related messages only. We do not send marketing or promotional texts through this programme, and we do not sell or share your phone number with third parties for their own marketing.
Voice calls. Where supported, we may deliver a verification code by an automated voice call to a number you have added and verified — for example, if you choose "call me instead" when you can't receive a text. Voice calls are used only to deliver verification codes, are never used for marketing, and follow the same US & Canada-only and STOP/HELP rules as our texts.
How you opt in
You choose to receive texts from Brunchie — it is never automatic:
- During sign-up, adding and verifying your phone number is an optional step, shown with a clear notice that you agree to receive account and event texts.
- In Settings → Notifications, SMS is an explicit toggle that is off by default and only available once you have verified your number.
By providing your phone number and opting in, you agree to receive account verification codes and event notification text messages from Brunchie. Message frequency varies. Message and data charges may apply. Consent to receive event-update texts is not a condition of using Brunchie — guest features and your account work without it. For how we handle your phone number and consent records, see our Privacy Policy.
How to stop or get help
- Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. You will get one confirmation, and we will not text you again unless you opt back in. STOP and HELP requests are handled automatically through Twilio's Advanced Opt-Out.
- Reply HELP for help, email us at support@brunchie.app, or reach us through our contact page.
- You can also turn texts off anytime in Settings → Notifications.
We keep a record of your express consent (including when and how you opted in) for as long as your consent is active, to honour your preferences and meet our record-keeping obligations.
