Template Picker Guide
Browse Brunchie's 12 hangout templates and 9 poll templates — tap a chip in Step 0 of the wizard and skip the blank-page moment
Template picker
When you tap + to create a new hangout or poll, the first thing you see is a swipeable carousel of templates. Tap a chip below the carousel to lock one in, and the wizard pre-fills the title, description, and (for some templates) seeds an itinerary, RSVP survey, or other content — so you're sharing an invite in seconds instead of building from scratch.
How to use it
- Tap + (new hangout or new poll).
- Step 0 of the wizard shows a card carousel. Swipe or tap the arrows to browse.
- Tap a template chip below the carousel to pick that template. The chip highlights to show your selection, and the rest of the wizard pre-fills in one tap.
- Changed your mind? Tap a different chip any time — your selection updates instantly. No need to go back or cancel anything.
- Or tap the Start from scratch chip at the end of the chip row to clear the picker and start with a blank form.
- Fill in the Start time and End time fields (they default to 19:00 and 22:00 — change them if your event runs earlier or later).
- Tap Next at the bottom to advance through the wizard.
- Finish and share as usual — you can still edit everything the template set up.
Tap a chip to lock in a template — change your mind any time before hitting Next.
Keyboard? Left/right arrow keys navigate the carousel. The Shuffle button cycles to a random template if you want inspiration.
Hangout templates (12)
Hangout cards show small chips under the description — these tell you what the template will create when you lock it in:
- Itinerary — a pre-built schedule you can edit
- RSVP survey — a short yes / maybe / no poll for guests
- Spreadsheet — a signup sheet or tracker (who brings what, team rosters, etc.)
- Seating chart — a table layout you can drag people onto
- Notes — longer-form text (rules, a reading list, venue tips)
Cards without chips are blank-starter templates — they pre-fill the title and description and let you build the rest.

Poll templates (9)
Poll templates pre-fill the title and answer options. Most are ready to share as-is; just review and tap send.
- Brunch Times — weekend morning time slots, ready to vote on
- Activities — open activity options for any group hangout
- Birthday — date and venue options for a birthday celebration
- Movie Night — genre or title options so the group picks the same thing
- Travel — destination or date options for group trips
- Workshop Feedback — rating and open-response options post-session
- Holiday Potluck — dish categories so no one brings three desserts
- Event Feedback — quick post-event rating poll
- Run Club — day-of-week options with auto-filled dates: the next 3 upcoming Saturdays are inserted automatically so you don't have to type them in
Start from scratch
Not seeing a template that fits? Tap the Start from scratch chip at the end of the chip row. This clears the selection and opens the standard blank form. Everything else in the wizard works the same — title, description, settings, sharing.
